I came upon this very rare Ducati 996 S Carl Fogarty Replica edition while at Engineered Automotive in Concord. There is usually a very wide array of exotic cars at this location but this was the first sport bike I have seen there. I honestly don’t know very much about sport bikes, but when I saw this Ducati I knew it was something special. After seeing the photos a friend informed me that is is a Carl Fogarty Replica Edition of which only 200 were made. The story behind this edition is that Ducati wanted to modify the frame of one of their World Superbike’s, but rules required that a bike with the same components had to be made available to the public. In order to conform with the homologation rules, the factory produced a limited run of 200 bikes with this modified frame. These bikes were sold as Fogarty Replicas, honoring English rider Carl Fogarty who won four World Superbike titles with Ducati.
It was an absolute pleasure to shoot this bike! There are so many unique curves and details which really make it a perfect subject. I have photographed a few motorcycles in the past but I hope to expand into this area this spring and summer. Please make sure to check out the gallery of photos below.
