The word “Daytona” brings up several emotions and memories for many people, and for good reason. As many as you know I was hired by Robert Herjavec to shoot his Ferrari Challenge races this week at this legendary race track in Florida. The day kicked off when I rolled out of bed at 4am and headed to the airport to catch my ride to Daytona in Robert’s private jet (that’s the last time I’ll mention it I promise!). After picking up our credentials we headed through the famous tunnel into the track, I was simply blown away. Not only was it my first time in Daytona, it was also my first time seeing a banked oval track in person. We met up with the rest of the Ferrari of Ontario team in the paddock and the drivers jumped into their gorgeous 458 Challenge for their first practice session. The sound of these machines flying past the start/finish at 200mph is simply intoxicating! I focused mostly on the Ferrari drivers today but I’m looking forward to taking a walk around to capture the rest of the exciting machines in the paddock tomorrow. It’s been almost 3 weeks since I tore my medial meniscus (in my knee) playing soccer but it’s been healing very well. It started acting up a bit after limping around the track all day but there’s no where else I’d rather be. I’m sitting in my hotel room on the beach listening to the waves and editing, life is good! Very grateful for this amazing life experience. Enjoy the photos and thank you all again for your continued support!
