After my first day at Daytona I knew this was going to be a very special trip. Not only was I hired to shoot a pack of beautiful 458 Challenge cars, but seeing and hearing the Grand-Am cars flying around the track for the first time was incredible. Robert had some bad luck in his first race when he was hit from behind at the chicane, and in his second race when he had a flat tire and locked up going into turn one at 196mph! Overall it was one of those race weekends that everyone has at some point, but all you can do is brush it off and look forward to the next race. Once the Challenge activity wrapped up on Saturday it was time for the big race, the legendary 24 Hours of Daytona. After taking our seats in the Ferrari Hospitality tent the green flag dropped and the roar of highly tuned engines was deafening. This was my first time seeing a 24 hour race and it surpassed my expectations tenfold! It was absolutely amazing to see packs of cars dip and dive into corners just inches away from each other. Our plane left at 8:30pm so I made the journey into pit lane before we headed out. The vibe was electric, teams preparing for fuel stops, tire changes, and working at a feverish pace to keep up with the endless demands of this 24 hour jaunt. This had to be one of my favourite places to shoot, there was so much going on and so many unique opportunities to really capture the essence of Daytona. Reluctantly we headed back home, leaving the warm weather and sports cars behind us to be greeted by the snow and frigid temperatures in Ontario. Overall this trip was an amazing way to kick off the 2013 shooting season, I’m really looking forward to seeing what the rest of the year has in store! As always, thank you all so much for you support, I wouldn’t be where I am without you.
Enjoy the photos,

Great photos, just one thing though the brake lock up was cause by a flat tie due to debris on the track not a brake malfunction. Regards, Paul.
